This ten day tour will appeal to those with “a head for heights”. During this journey we partially trace the tracks of one of the most historic automotive events that ever took place in the French Alps - The Route des Grandes Alpes. 

We ride the main Alpine passes at altitudes between 1500 and 2800m including Col de la Colombiere, Col de L’Iseran, Col du Galibier, and Col de L’Izoard. 

After an early morning crossing and overnight stop in the Aube region of France we arrive at our first Alpine destination, a three star hotel in Annecy. On our day off we ride the scenic yet dramatic region around picturesque Lac Annecy. We continue through the Massif des Bauges, ride Route Napoléon  and arrive at the beautiful lake-side hotel just outside Gap for a well deserved rest and an evening meal. 

The next four days are divided between two more Alpine destinations, in the Savoie region where we stay in biker friendly hotels. From here the journey takes us back North on those great, almost traffic-free roads, to our last overnight destination in Champagne region. 

A final ride across rural France, still on those quiet roads, will take us to catch the late afternoon crossing to Dover.
